Visit Nez Perce NHP Visitor Center
Home to the park's museum, interpretive programs, and historic trails through Spalding's most significant sites, the visitor center offers a welcoming introduction to Nez Perce history and culture.
Getting There
The visitor center is located 10 miles east of Lewiston, Idaho on U.S. Highway 95, and 3 miles north of Lapwai on the same highway. The address is 39063 US Hwy 95, Lapwai, ID 83540-9715.

What You'll See
Inside, you'll find museum exhibits featuring clothing, tools, weapons, and ceremonial objects that tell the story of the Nez Perce people and their history. The park film Of One Heart plays throughout the year and provides an introduction to the Nez Perce story; copies are available for purchase.
The visitor center sits within a historic district that includes Watson's Store, the preserved Indian Agency buildings, remnants of the Spalding Mission, and several interpretive trails. Four short trails wind through the site, allowing visitors to explore on their own. The Spalding Cemetery, where early figures like Henry and Eliza Spalding and many Nez Perce ancestors are buried, is also located here and is treated as sacred ground by the community.
From Memorial Day to Labor Day, rangers offer guided walks, museum tours, and tipi pitching demonstrations. Call (208) 843-7001 or email for information about programs and group visits.
